What is the difference between ETB2901A and ETB2901B?

ETB2901A is the clutch pack with cover plate and shims only. ETB2901B (this kit) adds the external filter and sump plug, making it the more complete service kit. We recommend ETB2901B when doing a full DSG clutch replacement service.

Why is the external filter included?

The external filter (02E 398 029 B) is a service item that should be replaced any time the gearbox sump is removed. Reusing the old filter risks circulating contaminants through the mechatronic unit after the repair.

What causes DSG 02E clutch failure?

Degraded DSG fluid is the primary cause. The DQ250 wet clutch sits in fluid; as fluid breaks down it loses its friction modifier properties, leading to judder, hesitation on take-off, and clutch slip. Service intervals of 40,000 miles are recommended.
