Haldex Generation 5 Pump Kit With Febi Bilstein Oil

The Haldex pump generates hydraulic pressure to operate the all-wheel-drive coupling, sending power to the rear wheels on demand. This component is prone to failure on higher-mileage vehicles or when scheduled Haldex servicing is skipped.

When the pump fails you may experience loss of rear-wheel drive, reduced traction and AWD warning codes. Fitting a new pump restores full AWD capability.

Important: The Generation 5 pump requires programming via the Haldex learn procedure. Please ensure your diagnostic equipment supports this function before purchasing.

The Haldex pump builds hydraulic pressure to engage the rear axle coupling, providing four-wheel drive when the front wheels lose traction. On the VW Crafter 4Motion, a functioning pump is essential for AWD operation.

Why does the Generation 5 Haldex pump need programming?

The Gen 5 system uses an electronically controlled pump that must be calibrated to the vehicle's AWD control unit after installation. This ensures the pump delivers the correct pressure curve for your specific model.

What fault codes indicate a failed Haldex pump?

Codes P16668, P16670 and P16671 are the most common. A blocked filter gauze or complete pump seizure are typical root causes on high-mileage Crafters.

Is regular Haldex oil change necessary?

Yes — Haldex oil should be changed every 20,000 miles. Neglecting oil changes accelerates pump wear and is the leading cause of premature failure.

Can I reuse the original screws?

We recommend always fitting the new screws included in the kit. The originals may stretch or corrode, and reuse risks an oil leak at the pump mounting face.
