What is the Ford Powershift MPS6 6DCT450?
The MPS6 (also known as the 6DCT450 or Getrag PowerShift) is a 6-speed wet dual-clutch automatic gearbox used in Ford Focus, Ford C-Max, Ford Kuga, Volvo S40 and related models. It uses two clutch packs (K1 and K2) to drive alternate gear sets, enabling quick gear changes without torque interruption.
What does this overhaul kit replace?
This kit replaces all the primary gaskets and seals that wear or harden over time, causing oil leaks and internal pressure loss. It includes the mechatronic cover gasket (a common failure point), valve body seals, differential seals, clutch seals, and O-rings.
Is this kit suitable for a DIY rebuild?
The MPS6 is a complex dual-clutch transmission requiring specialist tools, a clean work environment, and experience with automatic transmission rebuilds. We recommend professional installation by a qualified gearbox technician.
Does this kit fit the DPS6 Powershift?
No. The DPS6 is a dry-clutch variant used in Ford Fiesta and Focus from 2011 onward and has a completely different internal design. This kit is for the wet-clutch MPS6 only.
How do I know if I have a Gen 1 or Gen 2 MPS6?
Gen 1 units were produced up to approximately 2014. If in doubt, provide your vehicle's VIN or registration number and we will confirm compatibility before you order.
