Why does the Ford Powershift TCM fail?

The 6DCT250 dry-clutch system is particularly sensitive to software calibration and heat cycles. TCM failures often follow repeated hot-start events, software corruption, or water ingress. Fault codes P0811, P0750–P0755 (solenoid circuits) and P17xx transmission codes are common associated faults.

Does the unit need to be programmed to my vehicle?

Yes — a new TCM is virginised and must be cloned or programmed before use. Eco Torque provides a free clone service: send us your original unit, we clone the data and return the programmed new unit ready to fit.
