DSG 0B5 DL501 S-Tronic Pressure Solenoid 50229 for Audi Mechatronic
A replacement pressure solenoid (VBS variable bleed solenoid, code N471 or N472, part 50229) for the Audi 0B5 DL501 S-Tronic 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox mechatronic unit. These solenoids control hydraulic pressure within the mechatronic and are a primary cause of fault codes P17B3, P17B4 and P17B6. Replacing failed or sticking solenoids can restore normal clutch engagement and shift quality without full mechatronic replacement.

What fault codes indicate a faulty pressure solenoid on the DL501?
Common associated fault codes include P17B3 (pressure regulation solenoid N471), P17B4, P17B5, P17B6, and P18C9. Symptoms include harsh or delayed shifts, shuddering during low-speed driving, and in severe cases gearbox limp mode.
Can the pressure solenoid be replaced without removing the mechatronic?
In most cases the solenoids on the DL501 are accessible only by removing the mechatronic unit from the gearbox. We recommend this repair is carried out by a specialist with the correct jig and coding equipment.
Does the replacement solenoid need to be coded?
A basic adaptation reset via VCDS or ODIS is recommended after any solenoid replacement to allow the gearbox control unit to re-learn clutch engagement pressures. Full recode is not normally required for individual solenoid replacement.
