This drive shaft stub axle (OEM ref: 0A5409343B) connects the differential output of the 0A5 6-speed manual gearbox to the driveshaft in VW Transporter T5, T6, California and Multivan models. A stub axle (also called a drive flange or output shaft stub) links the gearbox differential output to the outer constant velocity (CV) driveshaft. It transmits all driving torque from the differential to the wheel.
What are the symptoms of a failing stub axle?
Clicking or clunking noises during acceleration or when turning, vibration felt through the van body, or visible corrosion and wear at the gearbox output flange are the main warning signs.
