M32 GEN 2 Gearbox Updated Endcase Shim – Upper and Lower Mainshaft 24461953 (1.25mm)

A genuine Vauxhall / Opel updated endcase shim for the M32 GEN 2 gearbox, used to set correct mainshaft end-float during a gearbox rebuild or end-case upgrade. This shim is part number 24461953 with a nominal thickness of 1.25mm and is required when fitting the larger updated end casing on M32 GEN 2 units.

Fits transmission: M32 GEN 2 6-Speed Manual Gearbox (all M32 GEN 2 variants)

Please note: This shim is NOT compatible with first-generation M32 gearboxes featuring the smaller end casing. We are unable to advise on shim thickness — the required shim must be measured during the rebuild and cannot be pre-determined.

What is the updated M32 endcase shim used for?

The endcase shim sits at the mainshaft positions (31 and 56 on the diagram) and sets the correct pre-load and end-float when the M32 GEN 2 updated end casing is fitted. Selecting the right thickness is critical — too thick or too thin causes excess bearing load or mainshaft play.

How do I know which thickness shim I need?

The correct shim thickness can only be determined by measuring during the gearbox rebuild — it cannot be pre-determined or supplied without measuring. You will need a dial gauge and feeler gauges to measure the end-float and select the matching shim size. We are unable to advise on thickness without the measured data from your gearbox.

Will this shim fit the first-generation M32 gearbox?

No — this shim is for the M32 GEN 2 (updated, larger end casing) only. The first-generation M32 has a smaller end casing that uses a different shim specification. If you are unsure which generation you have, send us a photo of the end casing or your VIN.

The M32 GEN 2 gearbox is fitted to a wide range of Opel, Vauxhall, Fiat, Chevrolet, Alfa Romeo and Saab models from approximately 2004 onwards.
