6DCT450 MPS6 PowerShift Gearbox Clutch Seal Cover – Ford & Volvo
This clutch seal cover is a known wear and replacement item for the 6DCT450 (MPS6) 6-speed PowerShift dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It seals the front clutch assembly within the transmission housing. Seal cover failure leads to ATF leaks, pressure loss at the clutch pack, and symptoms including harsh shifts, clutch slip or gearbox shudder. This part must be replaced during any internal clutch repair or rebuild.
Fits transmission: 6DCT450 / MPS6 PowerShift 6-speed dual-clutch (Gen 1)

What does the clutch seal cover do in the PowerShift gearbox?
The clutch seal cover retains ATF pressure around the clutch pack piston. Without an intact seal, the hydraulic pressure needed to engage the clutch cannot build properly, causing slipping, shudder or failure to engage gears.
Is clutch seal cover failure a common fault on the PowerShift?
Yes. The 6DCT450 clutch seal cover is a known weak point, particularly on high-mileage units. It is one of the most frequently replaced parts during a PowerShift internal rebuild.
Does this fit both Gen 1 and Gen 2 of the DCT450?
This part is designed for the Gen 1 6DCT450 / MPS6 unit. Check your gearbox generation before ordering – Gen 2 units use different internal components.
What other parts should I replace at the same time?
During a clutch rebuild, it is best practice to replace the internal filter (ET2017), external filter (ET2310), clutch seal cover, and all ATF fluid. This minimises the chance of needing to re-open the gearbox shortly after.
Is this an OE or aftermarket part?
