Genuine M32 Gearbox Updated Endcase Shim – Upper and Lower Mainshaft 1.0 mm (24461948)

A genuine 1.0 mm mainshaft shim (part number 24461948) for the updated M32 Gen 2 end-case upgrade. This shim is required when fitting the upgraded endcasing to the M32 gearbox — the correct shim thickness is selected during the rebuild measurement procedure to set the correct mainshaft preload. Fits positions 31 and 56 on the M32 exploded diagram.

Note: Shim thickness is determined during the gearbox rebuild measurement process and cannot be pre-selected. Please measure before ordering. This part should only be fitted by an experienced transmission technician.

How do I know which shim thickness I need for my M32 rebuild?

The correct shim thickness is determined by measuring the endplay/preload of the mainshaft assembly once the gearbox is stripped and the updated endcase is fitted. This measurement must be taken with calibrated tools during the rebuild — it cannot be determined from the vehicle registration or gearbox code alone.

Does this shim fit the original M32 endcase?

No — this shim is designed for the updated (Gen 2) M32 endcasing only. The original M32 endcase uses a different shim specification. Eco Torque stocks the complete M32 updated endcase upgrade kit if you require the full assembly.

What is the role of the endcase shim in the M32 rebuild?

The endcase shim sets the correct preload and endplay on the mainshaft bearings when the updated endcasing is fitted. Incorrect shim selection results in either excessive bearing preload (which causes heat and premature failure) or excessive endplay (which causes noise and wear).

Can I reuse the original shims when fitting the updated M32 endcase?

No — the updated endcasing has different dimensional tolerances to the original. New shims in the correct measured thickness must always be used when fitting the updated endcase upgrade.
