This 1st & 2nd gear synchromesh baulk ring set is a genuine OEM replacement for the M20 and M32 6-speed manual gearboxes. It resolves crunching or grinding on 1st and 2nd gear changes caused by worn baulk rings. OE part number: 55574656. Fits Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Vauxhall/Opel and Chevrolet vehicles.

Baulk rings (also called synchro rings) create friction between rotating components during gear changes, matching shaft speeds so the gear slides in cleanly without crunch. Worn rings produce grinding or stiff gear engagement.
