What does the synchro selector hub do in the M32 gearbox?

The selector hub sits in the synchro assembly and guides smooth transitions between 1st and 2nd gear. It works alongside the baulk rings to match shaft speeds before engagement, preventing crunch or grind.

Is 55564410 the same as the earlier M20 hub?

Yes. This hub is shared across the M20 and M32 gearbox families. It can be used in both generations where the 1st/2nd synchro assembly is fitted.

Should I replace the baulk rings at the same time?

Eco Torque recommends replacing the baulk rings together with the hub during a rebuild – it restores full synchromesh performance and avoids repeat disassembly shortly afterwards.
