What is the function of the selector arm in the PF6 gearbox?

The selector arm (also called the shift arm or cross shaft) translates the movement from the gear lever into the internal gear selection mechanism. It pivots on needle bearings that must be in good condition to allow smooth, precise gear selection.

Why do the needle bearings wear out on the PF6?

The needle bearings in the selector arm pivot are exposed to continuous movement and vibration. Over time, wear causes lateral play in the selector arm, resulting in vague or imprecise gear selection, difficulty engaging specific gears, or a rattling noise from the gearbox area.
