MPS6 DCT451 Powershift Gen 2 Clutch & Cover Kit

Clutch and cover kit for the MPS6 6DCT451 Generation 2 Powershift gearbox, combining the replacement clutch pack with the front cover. Replacing the cover at the same time as the clutch is best practice and ensures correct sealing and clamping force on the DCT451 unit. Fitment locations are marked with orange dots.

Why replace the cover at the same time as the clutch?

The cover forms the sealing and reaction surface for the clutch pack. Reusing the old cover risks oil seepage and incorrect clutch engagement forces, which can shorten the life of the new clutch. For a lasting repair, replace both together.

Is this kit suitable for Generation 1 Powershift?

No. This kit is for the DCT451 Generation 2 unit only. For the earlier DCT450 Generation 1 gearbox, a different clutch part number is required. Check your gearbox code — DCT451 is the second-generation unit.

What symptoms suggest the clutch or cover needs replacement?

Shudder on pull-away, hesitation between low gears, and sudden loss of drive are the most common signs. Fault codes from the mechatronic unit should also be scanned before repair.

Does this require adaptation after fitting?

Yes — a clutch learn procedure using Ford-compatible diagnostics is required after installation. Professional fitting is recommended.

What is the difference between this kit and the clutch-only ET3742?

ETB3742 (this kit) includes the clutch front cover in addition to the clutch pack. ET3742 is the clutch pack only. For a complete repair we recommend this bundle.
