What is DCT/DSG fluid and why does it need changing?

DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) fluid lubricates the wet clutch packs and gear sets in DSG, S-Tronic and Powershift gearboxes. Over time the fluid degrades, losing its friction properties and ability to cool the clutches, leading to shudder, jerky shifts and clutch wear. Regular changes every 40,000 miles or 4 years are recommended.

Is this oil compatible with dry clutch DSG gearboxes (DQ200/0AM)?

No. Dry clutch DSG gearboxes (such as the DQ200/0AM 7-speed) require a different, thinner fluid. This fluid is intended for wet clutch applications such as the DQ250/02E, DQ500/0BH, DL501/0B5 and similar. Always confirm your gearbox code before ordering.

What are the signs that my DCT fluid needs replacing?

Common indicators include shuddering or jerking during low-speed gear changes, hesitation when pulling away, gear selection delays, and a warning lamp for the transmission. In severe cases a complete loss of drive can occur as clutch pack damage progresses.

How much fluid does a DCT gearbox oil change typically require?

Most DSG and S-Tronic gearboxes require between 1 and 7 litres depending on whether it is a full drain or just a sump drain service. Consult your vehicle workshop manual or contact us with your registration for the correct quantity.

Can I mix this with another brand of DCT fluid?

Mixing transmission fluids is generally not recommended as the different additive packages can react and reduce overall performance. For a service, drain as much of the old fluid as possible before adding the new fluid.
