About the Haldex Gen 1

Haldex Gen 1 is the original coupling, fitted from 1998 to around 2004 on the first generation of transverse four-wheel-drive VW Group cars and the early Volvo AWD range. It uses an external, serviceable filter and a separate hydraulic feeder pump, and because it is now the oldest generation on the road it is the one most often found with a service that has never been done. Eco Torque stocks Gen 1 pumps (02D525557), filter service kits (02D525558A) and the Volvo-specific 8675234 pump and 8675235 filter kit.

A Gen 1 service is a pump, a filter and gasket kit and fresh Haldex oil — available separately or as a matched service kit. Parts are shared across the VW Group brands, so an Audi, VW, SEAT or Skoda Gen 1 all take the same 02D numbers; Volvo uses its own. Not sure which parts you need?
