A replacement M8 × 50mm casing bolt for the Volkswagen Group DSG 0AM DQ200 7-speed dry dual-clutch gearbox. The DQ200 uses specific-length casing bolts at various points on the transmission housing; using the correct specification bolt ensures proper clamping load and a leak-free assembly. The DQ200 (also known as 0AM in VW Group designation) is a 7-speed dry dual-clutch automatic gearbox used extensively in VW Group compact and mid-size vehicles. It is known for smooth efficiency at motorway speed but can develop clutch and mechatronic issues at low speeds if service intervals are not observed.
Can I mix bolt sizes in the DQ200 casing?
No. Always use the correct bolt length for each specific location in the DQ200 casing. Using a bolt that is too long risks contacting internal components; too short and you lose clamping force. Consult the factory repair manual or exploded diagram for your specific application.
Should I use a thread-locking compound on gearbox casing bolts?
Factory guidelines for the DQ200 do not generally require Loctite on casing bolts. However, if any bolt hole threads are worn or cross-threaded, a small amount of medium-strength thread lock may be appropriate. Always torque to the factory specification.
